About event
We invite you 🎉 to the ceremonial presentation of the new graphic novel, comic, *Comrade Dissident*, which maps the life and work of Milan Šimečka - an important dissident, thinker and fighter for freedom ✊ during the communist regime.
Comics authors **Michal Hvorecký**, **Matúš Vizár** and **Adrián Hnát** will introduce the work, Veronika Vlčková, director of the Milan Šimečka Foundation, and Milan Šimečka's family will add a few words.
The comic captures the dramatic period of the 70s and 80s, when Milan Šimečka was persecuted and imprisoned for his beliefs. His life story is now being shared with the wider public through a comic book.
During the event, it will be possible to purchase the comic 📖 or have it signed directly by the authors.
About the comic: *Comrade Dissident* is the first author's comic of the Milan Šimečka Foundation, which was created thanks to the aforementioned authors, the support of the Fund for the Support of Art, or the donors who supported it through the campaign on the StartLab platform. The comic story is a faithful witness of the historical struggles for freedom, to which Milan Šimečka dedicated his whole life. On its pages you will find a unique reflection of the time when the thinking of a free person was criminal. Despite the period, hope for a better future came from him ✨.
Come and listen to a story that is still an inspiration and a challenge for a free civil society 🙌.
