About the exhibition:
In the work of these creators we can see the main assumptions of the so -called of the Wrocław School of Glass and following the didactic idea of the Nestor of Polish Glass and Academic Teacher Zbigniew Horbowy, who promoted unrestricted technological ingenuity, courage and consistency in following his own original creative path.
▪️◾️◾️◼️◼️ Zbigniew Horbowy (1935 - 2019) was one of the first graduates in 1952 at the State College of Fine Arts - Glass Faculty. He became undoubtedly the main reformer in the field of glass design and production, which was favored by close cooperation with technologists and metallurgists. The result was to develop your own design school. As one of the first glass artists, he stopped referring to traditional designs. His works are characterized by a sophisticated, original form and bold colors.
▪️◾️◼️ Małgorzata Dajwska (born in 1958) graduated from the State College of Fine Arts in Wrocław in 1982. This close horizon of the horB is employed since 1984 as a lecturer in the Wrocław Department of Glass. Already at the beginning of her independent creative path she dealt with processing the "cold" glass, becoming in Poland a pioneer and popularizer of this technique. Dajwska's works are characterized by a subtlety of form and a definite color. Her glass sculptures are not only a derivative of the artist's talent and her original creative method, but also poetic sensitivity and the need to express various emotions using implemented facilities.
▪️◾️◼️ Mariusz Łabiński (born in 1967) obtained a diploma at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław in the studio of prof. Zbigniew Horbowy and prof. Małgorzata Dajwska (1993), while the title of Doctor in 2003. 2006-2008 and 2014-2016 was the head of the Glass Department at his home university. In unique, metallurgical techniques of hot glass forming (with elements of cut), the designer creates a sophisticated, decisive in the form of the proprietary series of utility glass, of which the best known set of glasses "Angry Dog" and cheerful, expressive color vessels, called Kandinsky's decisals. The artist is often expressed in humor, hyperbola, contextual game, while avoiding both intellectual pose and literality. His designs are extremely brave, sometimes unusual that precursor.
▪️◾️◼️ Igor Wójcik (born in 1968) A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław (1993). This interdisciplinary artist presents a polar different approach to inspiration directly taken from the real world. For Wójcik, the real world in its biological and mechanical dimension (within the boundaries of the reality we know), as well as its views from the area of micro- and macro-reference become the starting point for fantastic entities appointed by the artist, as part of the mechabiotilae cycle implemented since the beginning of the 1990s. It is a combination of biological and mechanical reality in created glass artifacts, but also painting, as the creator himself claims by so -called speculative intuitionism (his original theory of art).
▪️◾️◼️ Patrik Illo (born in 1973), the Slovak glass designer and the popularizer of this artistic discipline. He studied at the Faculty of Glass of the College of Fine Arts in Bratislava. His designs with a characteristic original and sophisticated detail are both effective and effective. The work of this Slovak designer is characterized by a rational poetics, and the emphasis is placed on the elegance of shapes and ingenious details. He is not afraid of exaggeration, nor joke or contextual contrast, which gives his work an individual expression. The exhibition presents his works created in the Polish Glassworks in Krosno, which in 2006-2009 was the main designer.
The works presented at the exhibition-both those that can perform a utility function, as well as glass sculptures-it is characterized by courage, definitely, nobility of shape and colors, which results not only from the aesthetic concept developed by the artists, but also from It is an inspiring material, and a return to traditional machining and consistent decisions regarding the appearance of the form can strengthen the strength of artistic expression, giving art a fully recognizable, original and individual sign - the artist's creative style.
