Kurátorska prehliadka výstavy Neboj sa, to som iba ja

On Thursday, December 18, there will be a curatorial tour of Dominika Kováčiková's exhibition with Michal Stolárik, and a live performance by music performer Erika Rein.

Program:

• 7:00 p.m. – curatorial tour of Dominika Kováčiková's exhibition
• 8:00 p.m. – live performance by music performer Erika Rein

Kováčik's latest series smoothly leaves the lasciviousness and innocence of the characters or the ubiquitous lightness of the pink color. In her work so far, she has depicted young women who have overcome trauma or insecurity, and followed their journey to self-confidence, emancipation and devictimization. Current female protagonists are gradually leaving their fear behind and headlong into new, sometimes dangerous situations. True to the self-portrait variations, it offers a darker color palette and a depressing atmosphere with a touch of horror. He squeezes the bodies and faces of the characters into the picture frames, thereby intensifying the feeling of tension, crampedness and internal tension. He continues to emphasize the psychologization and emotionality of grotesque characters. Faces form the core of the paintings and he develops them through small symbolic elements and details indicating the beginning of significant narratives.
