The theory and methodology of individual psychology I - basic skills

Being a good therapist means, among other things, to be clear about what I do and why, where I am now with the client and where I am aiming and being able to rely on my theoretical background and competences.

Training is intended for psychologists, social workers and other professionals helping professions. It is the second part of long -term psychotherapeutic training, but it creates a separate comprehensive training suitable for all who want to know the theory of individual psychology and methods and techniques it uses.

In training you will get the theoretical background of individual psychology as well as the time and space for training new skills, specific methods and techniques, as well as space for sharing and cooperation in the group.

We will focus on key therapeutic competencies: creating and building a therapeutic relationship, creating psychotherapeutic strategies, psychological insight and diagnostics, using specific psychotherapeutic methods and techniques, as well as developing a professional approach to a psychotherapist profession.

In the group we will go through self -experience, provide sufficient support in theory, time for training and deepening knowledge and connecting them to the context of your professional operation. The aim is to understand the method of individual psychology and its use in diverse practice - individual and group work with clients who may not have parental experience. change. The course of teaching in this module follows the expected course of therapy. First, you will get the competences needed to create a therapeutic relationship, then we will focus on exploration and insight, develop the ability to move the therapeutic process to the change phase and its installation in actively used procedures in the client's life. You will learn to use basic methods and techniques of individual psychology for working with an individual, couple or group. The training is led at meetings in the form of demonstrations in the open forum, training in smaller groups and in the meantime in intervision groups.

How will we work? Learn to reflect on how the lifestyle of the therapist intervenes into the therapeutic process. You can try the therapy for yourself - all the methods and techniques we will learn. Form of short lectures. Study of available literature. Consultation on open forum, training in small groups in joint training, work in intervision groups. Model situations. Work in the Triáde - client, therapist, observer.

Philosophical Background and theory of individual psychology. Principles of individual psychology and their use in educational parental therapy. Holistic principle, teleological principle, sense of belonging (social interest), creativity and prosocial orientation of man, lifestyle and factors involved in its formation, life tasks.

Therapeutic relationship. The role of the therapist. Feeling of belonging in the therapeutic process. Building a relationship with the client. Communication in the therapeutic process.

The phase of the therapeutic process. Start of therapy. Building a relationship. Orientation and understanding. Insight (interpretation and confrontation). Reorientation. Motivation to change. Possibilities of change. Support for change. Ending therapy. Creating a therapeutic strategy.

Methods of working with clients:

Family constellation - influence on the formation of personality, personality of man and his functioning in adulthood. A system of relationships in the family. Methods of analysis of family constellation, interpretation. Understanding and insight. Making parental beliefs and educational procedures and their reformulation. Dynamics of problem behavior. Dreikurus's theory of problem behavior - four objectives of problem behavior, interaction concept. Complementarity of parent and child behavior. Diagnostic - intervention interview. Levels of management of inappropriate behavior.

Giving courage in the therapeutic process. Addressing the client's resources and strengths. Identification and reformulation of beliefs that take courage. Language of giving courage.

Life tasks. Technique for diagnosis of life satisfaction and creation of therapeutic strategy.

methods and ways of supporting parenting. Educational styles in the family and their consequences for the development of the child and family relationships. Parental beliefs - subjective beliefs affecting parental attitudes and behavior, techniques to understand parental beliefs and support their transformation. Support for parenting based on democratic educational style.

Examples of consultations and conducting interviews. Examples of work with the client through the so -called Open Forum Consultation) using the participants' personal material. Sharing group experience, questions about individual demonstrations.
