PARENTAL BELIEFS AND EDUCATION STYLE

Parental beliefs are the driving force behind parental behavior. In order to change their parenting style, parents first need to understand their parenting beliefs.

The course is intended for psychotherapists, psychologists and social workers who work with parents and other caregivers.

We will introduce the basic principles of parenting, which are key to educating and guiding parents. You will learn to work with methods that allow you to understand parental beliefs and attitudes. We will offer a path that will allow parents to reinterpret their beliefs and support their parenting competence.

TOPICS:

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK. Theoretical starting points and the concept of educational styles with regard to anchoring within the approach of individual psychology. Aspects of creating subjective beliefs (private logic) in relation to the applied lifestyle. Beliefs in the context of private logic and lifestyle.

HOW TO COMMUNICATE AND MEDIATE WRONG BELIEFS TO PARENTS. Subjective beliefs and private logic, mapping and reinterpretation of one's own irrational beliefs (role playing, questioning technique and uncovering of subjective beliefs). Facilitating understanding of parental beliefs as an opportunity to see faulty parental attitudes. Accompanying the parent in order to achieve a change in parental attitude.

SUBJECTIVE BELIEFS AS MESSAGES CARRYING IMPORTANT INFORMATION. How a child perceives his position in the family through the educational style, how he forms an idea of ​​the principles and rules of functioning in the family, including the idea of ​​himself and his role in the family and wider community (school, peers, authorities and their relationship to them). Ways of working with parental beliefs and accompanying parents (interview options, The Most Memorable Observation technique by Francis Walton).

SAMPLES OF WORK WITH A CLIENT through the so-called demonstration on an open stage (Open forum consultation) using personal material of the participants. Sharing group experience, exchange of ideas.

MODEL SITUATIONS using personal experiences of participants.

YOU WILL LEARN:

Understand the mechanism of creating subjective beliefs and private logic .

Reinterpret parental beliefs.

Use questioning techniques that lead to understanding of parental beliefs and private logic.

Provide parents with an insight into subjective beliefs through support.

Conducting an interview with parents enabling cooperation, active involvement and motivation of parents.

Support parenting based on a democratic educational style.

COURSE COURSE AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The course runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with with a lunch break and two smaller breaks.

The course will take place in the environment of the ZOOM platform. You can join a ZOOM meeting directly from a web browser, but it is much better to use a client.

The course is interactive, you will work in groups and communicate with the lecturer.

About the course a stable Internet connection and a device that allows audio and video transmission (e.g. a laptop with a built-in webcam) are required.

Although the course is conducted online, we pay attention to personal access and creating a safe environment just like in face-to-face courses and kind environment.
