About event
"I often ask myself while I was not born in Slovakia. My family in another country would also have an Asian bistro or clothing store? Would we have so few friends? Would I have a better relationship with my sister? Would I have been even worried about racism?
About what it is like to be a Vietnamese Slovakian with the artist and photographer Nguyen talks Lenka Kunová.
Free entry, an event designed for viewers from 10 years. Maybe it was her Vietnamese name: Hoa Nguyễn thị. Today everyone calls her a flower. She was born in Slovakia, has Slovak citizenship, lives full here, participates in public affairs, thinks Slovak and sees his future in this country.
On paper is Slovak, but all her life has to defend this position. Her story is the story of many girls, boys, women and men who came to Slovakia for various reasons - such as economic migrants, war refugees, for family or study. She speaks openly about life in a closed community, finding identity between two so different cultures, about food and customs, about racism and friendship. She regularly exhibits and outside of Europe, exhibiting her work in Canada and Vietnam. The Nguyen flower is actively involved in the topics of otherness and identity outside its artistic projects. The central point of her practice is the historical events that shaped it, starting with her parents' migration to Slovakia. The main partners of the project.
The premises are provided by the town of Trebišov. um ..
