La dílna is a workshop of Latin American songs and rhythms led by Marta Töpferová.
La dílna was created as a space for the transfer of knowledge and rich experience in areas of Latin American music that Marta has collected during her many years of work in this community. Regular workshops will allow participants to get to know Latin American rhythms and styles more deeply. The workshop will mainly focus on learning songs and basic rhythmic accompaniments for hand percussion and clapping. We will learn songs in styles such as Cuban son, guajira, bolero, Colombian porro, Venezuelan joropo, waltz, Chilean cueca or Argentinian chacarera and zamba. We will also cover rhythms on maracas (rumba balls), clave, and clapping, which are typically accompanied by singers.
Previous singing experience is helpful, but not a requirement. We will learn mainly by ear, so it is not necessary to know the notes. Sheet music for the songs will also be available. It is also possible to participate as an instrumentalist and create a musical ensemble during the workshop.
