About event

The Tabaฤka Gallery invites to the events associated with the anniversary of the Russian invasion in Ukraine.

Ukrainian women and various volunteers weave camouflage networks, produce trench candles for troops from cans or collect money to ensure material for fixing injured limbs. The Labor of Defence's exhibition is a tribute to all that are involved in the defense of Ukraine against the Russian invasion. Inspired by the iconic performance Yoko Ono "Cut Piece" from 1964, in which the artist had the audience cut the pieces of her garment. Tania Bakum in her performance takes an active attitude and emphasizes that the face of aggression is the challenges to peace inadequate - it is necessary to act and defend. Performance reflects the collective efforts of the Ukrainians in defending its country. The process symbolizes the transformation of personal to collectively, which ultimately returns as a source of strength and protection for each participant and a joint fight.
