About event

Original blues rock from the USA

Described by Jeff Beck as a “very exciting and intense blues guitarist”, Lance Lopez was significantly influenced by mentors such as Billy Gibbons and Johnny Winter, who gave him important impulses at a young age gave.

At the age of 14, Lopez was already performing as a professional musician in the bars and clubs of the French Quarter of New Orleans. At 17, he was hired by Johnnie Taylor to tour the Chitlin Circuit with his band for six months. In the following years he toured the world with Lucky Peterson for three years. The friendship with drummer Buddy Miles led to Lopez temporarily becoming the guitarist for the Buddy Miles Express. Together with Jay Newland, Buddy produced Miles Lopez's debut album "First Things First" (1998). In 2000, Lopez undertook his band's first European tour and supported the likes of Steve Vai and Jeff Beck the following year. In 2001 he opened for B.B. King in Texas and won the “Blues Band of the Year Award” at the Dallas Music Awards. The album Wall of Soul was released in 2003 and Lopez toured Texas, opening for Los Lonely Boys and Joe Bonamassa. In 2005, Lopez formed the short-lived Band of Trouble with Tommy Shannon and Buddy Miles. His third album “Simplify Your Vision” was released in 2006, followed by “Higher Ground” (2007), on which Lopez played all the instruments himself. After an intense period between 2008 and 2011 during which Lopez traveled around Europe supporting bands such as ZZ Top, he signed a new record deal with MIG Music / String Commander in Hanover, Germany in 2009. The album “Salvation from Sundown” was released in 2010 and impressed with its Texas blues style.

The sixth album “Handmade Music” followed in March 2012, produced by Jim Gaines. That year, Lopez also formed the Supersonic Blues Machine with Kenny Aronoff and Fabrizio Grossi. Their debut album, West of Flushing, South of Frisco, was released in 2016. That same year, he released “Live in NYC” in 2016 via Cleopatra Records, which was recorded at Johnny Winter's 70th birthday party. In November 2017, he signed with Mascot Label Group and released his debut album "Tell the Truth" on March 2, 2018 on Provogue Records. The sound was produced by Fabrizio Grossi and accompanied by Jimmy Zavala.

In July 2023, Lance Lopez presented his latest album “Trouble Is Good” via Cleopatra Records, another milestone in the fascinating musical journey of this exceptional artist.
