6 p.m. opening of the picture cellar
In the heating cellar of the Academy of the Arts, a number of decorations were created on the occasion of two carnival festivals, 1957 and 1958. The paintings of the then master students, including Manfred Böttcher, Harald Metzkes, Ernst Schroeder, Werner Stötzer and Horst Zickelbein, are now unique evidence of the artistic post-war modernism of the GDR. unique way the recent German history. Traces of the changing uses since 1907 are still visible today. In a multimedia presentation it becomes clear how the breaks and caesuras of the 20th century have enrolled into the history of the place.
