Mayan building and love proverbs performed by folklore ensembles and folk music. / Erecting of the Maypoles and love customs presented by folklore groups and ensembles.
In the village community, love was not allowed to be expressed in public in any way. Lovers showed their love with gifts or actions. You will learn more about love customs in the past at the Love in the Village event, which will take place at the Slovak Village Museum on Sunday, April 26, 2026. It is with this event that we welcome the summer visitor season together.
How Mayans - expressions of love - were once built in Kysucie, will be performed by the Drevár folk ensemble from Krásno nad Kysucou at 12:00 and 14:00.
In the love counseling "Unenchanted groom like an unoiled pea" you will learn "insider" advice and magical practices that were supposed to help in love affairs.
Lectures on herbs under the name Traditions in us will reveal more about what should be contained in the "Home Herb Medicine Box" at 11:00 a.m. We will look at what helped girls with love spells during the lecture "Magic in the hands of girls" at 2:45 p.m.
As part of the exhibition "When it's a wedding, then it's a wedding!" you will learn interesting things from wedding customs. We will present the variety of wedding customs from the first half of the 20th century. For example, you will also learn about what preceded the wedding, or what could not be missing from it.
A creative workshop will be prepared for the smallest visitors, where they will be able to make paper flowers or a bachelorette feather.
Events will be part of the event. a. v. services of God in the church from Rudno at 1:30 p.m.
The sale of folk art products will also be part of the program, which will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event organizer reserves the right to change the program.
