The British Laura-Mary Carter was for a long time best known as one half of the garage rock duo Blood Red Shoes. Information that could be misleading if you are looking at her solo releases for the first time. Because instead of intense alternative rock, the singer-songwriter has been releasing melancholic, country-tinged folk rock songs for four years now. The sound that she shared with the world for the first time in 2021 is characterized by a heavenly calm that runs through both the subdued, nostalgic soundscapes and the poetic lyrics.
