About event
Brno Zoo has prepared a unique exhibition of student projects in cooperation with Brno University of Technology, which represents proposals for possible exhibitions of polar bears in the Brno Zoo. In addition to the most interesting works and 3D models of BUT listeners, visitors will also learn at the exhibition for extraordinary Brno rearing of five bears and important information about the situation of polar bears in the wild, their threat and rescue. The bear is an iconic animal of the Brno Zoo. As the only garden in Europe, we have naturally raised five pups in the past. In order to survive the polar bear in nature, it is necessary to create a sufficiently strong animal population in zoos. If the zoo is planning a brand new exhibition in the future, it is necessary to know what possibilities of the current state of designing zoo buildings. We took advantage of the established cooperation with the Institute of Architecture of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Brno, where the student works are created proposals for different animal species and we want to introduce you to the works that deal with the possible form of polar bears in the Brno Zoo.
How? Come to the exhibition and learn more. During the four -year expedition, Norwegian filmmakers Asgeir has managed to walk in bearings and capture as Frost tries to survive and raise young, while her home literally melts directly under her paws. (70 minutes). The annual hunting of endangered whales is not only tradition, but also the necessity to survive the winter in this fragile place devastated by Soviet influence. In the story of the paradox of history and the harsh struggle for survival, the film shows the clash of two disappearing worlds - the civilization of the chukch and the world of monumental and majestic whales. (60 minutes) screening of the film in the cooperation of the echo echo. For centuries they have been used to living on ice, but now this fragile balance between nation, territory and wild nature is in danger. And even though they are ready to protect their territories, will the rest of the world hear them? (83 minutes). You will learn how to behave in observing polar bears and what you can experience. He traveled through the landscape on a snowmobile or sailed by boat around the islands, where he also watched Mroz, reindeer and colonies of Nordic birds. As he says, nature is harsh, but beautiful. He will describe his experience with breeding and other attractions from the life of polar bears in the Brno Zoo. The director of the Brno Zoo Radana Dungelová or the curator of mammal breeding Matyáš Bernardy will answer any questions about the current exhibition and also to the future of polar bears in Brno. For the first time, the film crew managed to penetrate into some of them and reveal the dramatic deterioration of the quality of Siberian water, soil and air. Siberia is fundamentally changing. And for people and animals who live here, it will have serious consequences. Where there used to be an endless, deep taiga forests, suddenly giant holes are bought. Wild reindeer are forced to change annual migration. Hungry polar bears cross villages, and even cities in an effort to find some food. In the Arctic part of Russia, climate change is no longer an academic question. They are running right now and at the speed that raises concerns. Scientists say the breakpoint was exceeded several years ago. (52 minutes)
