About event

Take the legendary Pantograph to Bratislava with us on Saturday, December 14 and experience the festive atmosphere of Bratislava Christmas. You will taste traditional and unusual Christmas specialties and shop for the nearest unique gifts. You will be transported to the Slovak metropolis by a historic train that once ruled the railways in passenger transport in southern Moravia and Slovakia.

Back to the past... It is early Sunday morning, June 1, 1969, the sun is already starting to gain strength , when temperatures rise above a beautiful 20 °C during the day, and a set consisting of a pair of new electric Pantographs awaits at Brno's main railway station SM488.0001 and SM488.0002.

It is ready to go into heavy traffic for the first time to Bratislava and back with express trains 344 and 343, which were nicknamed Partizán after the post-war motor express trains. The clock shows 5:57, when the whistle of the dispatcher's whistle sounds, after a while the dispatcher in his hand flies up, and the pair of Pantographers set off for the first time towards the city on the Danube.

And now back to the present. ... The extraordinary retro express train Partizán will leave Brno Central Station at 9:05 a.m. on December 14. and with stops in Hrušovany u Brno, Šakvice, Břeclav and Kúty, it will arrive at the Bratislava main station at 11:14 a.m.

The departure of the retro express train back to Brno is scheduled for 6:16 p.m. With the same stops, it will arrive in Brno at 8:16 p.m. An interesting fact is that the train was assigned numbers commemorating the history of this train, i.e. R 10344 to Bratislava and R 10343 back.

In addition, this journey is the last opportunity to ride the Pantograph under your own power between Brno and Břeclav, for the launch of the European ETCS security system from January 2025, which will make it impossible for vehicles to drive not equipped by it on lines with exclusive ETCS operation.

And how much for a trip on a historic train will you pay?

Only return tickets with the destination Bratislava main station will be on sale. From Brno, Hrušovan u Brno and Šakvice, passengers from 15 years of age pay 650 CZK and children from 6 to 15 years pay 400 CZK. Tickets from Břeclav cost 400 CZK for passengers aged 15 and over and 300 CZK for children aged 6 to 15. Children under the age of 6 travel for free without the right to a seat. You will pay 100 CZK for the return transport fee for the dog (it is paid directly on the train, cannot be purchased in advance).
