FLOOD
Drama, SR, CR, PL, BE, 2025, 102 min, r. Martin Gonda
The film Potopa tells a story from Czechoslovakia in 1980. Mara is 15 years old and wants to become a pilot and leave village life. However, her father Alexander, a Ruthenian farmer and widower, insists that she stay at home and continue working on her native land. When their valley faces flooding due to the construction of the Starina water reservoir, they both have to cope with the loss of their home and family heritage. At the same time, they are looking for a way to mutual reconciliation in the middle of the struggle between tradition, identity and the desire for freedom.
