Death Weapon/Lethal Weapon, r. Richard Donner, 1987, USA
"I’m Too Old for This Shit." Sounds the most famous message from the film that has fundamentally influenced the genre of "Buddy Cop" by combining intense action, black humor and complex psychological characters' profiles. The story of two police partners - suicide, unpredictable veteran with trauma and caring but poisoned colleague - builds on the principle of contrasting characters where the differences between partners create tension and mutual support. Thanks to the balance between the dynamic storyline and the emotional depth, the deadly weapon laid the foundations for a number of subsequent films of this type and became an icon of the 80s. Strong performances by Mel Gibson and Danny Glver, along with unforgettable dialogues, contributed to her cult status.
