Ukrainian volunteer soldier, filmmaker and mother Alisa Kovalenko creates a testimony to the power of love in time of war - balancing between everyday life on the front, the horrors of the battlefield and tender poetic letters to her young son Theo.

There was no other choice for her. She had to go and fight against the evil that had taken over her land. Evil, which she got to know firsthand in 2014, when she spent four days in Russian captivity in the Donbass. She was so determined that she was able to leave her little son for a long time. Now she's composing letters in her head as helicopters fly overhead and mortar shells explode nearby. A suggestive documentary portrait of a stay in close proximity to the war front builds on the contrast between the unreal will to live and the obligation to sacrifice one's life for a higher cause. Not for the nation, not for the homeland, but for the free future of their own children.
