Letní kino IPN Praha: Riefenstahl

As a director, she created iconographic images. After the Second World War, she always tried to deny her ideological closeness to the Nazi regime and strictly rejected any connection between her art celebrating beauty, health and strength and the regime's terror. Leni Riefenstahl only authorized one version of her biography, her own. However, the legacy of one of the most controversial women of the 20th century - private films and photographs, recorded phone calls with her companions and personal letters - tells a different story. How could she rise to the position of leading filmmaker of the Reich, while persistently denying any close ties to Hitler and Goebbels?

Andres Veiel's documentary in collaboration with television journalist Sandra Maischberger, with the laconic title Riefenstahl, reveals fragments of the life that this filmmaker built for herself over the years and places it in a wider historical context.
