Fiume o Morte!
Igor Bezinović – 2025 – 113 min
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yxF6zMKcao
The bizarre military campaign of the Italian poet Gabriel D'Annunzio, who occupied today's Rijeka after the First World War (Fiume in Italian), belongs to the most amazing episodes of European history. In this city he declared his own state and declared himself its leader. His "empire" as a poet dictator lasted 16 months before it was ended by the army of his native Italy. D'Annunzio, whose aesthetics and politics also inspired Benito Mussolini, carefully built his own legend and had the entire period of his reign documented in thousands of period photographs. A native of Rijeka, Igor Bezinović subversively revives this history and explores the roots of fascism in an interweaving of archival materials, exaggeration and contemporary perspective, moving between history and today.
KineDok is a unique project focused on the alternative distribution of author's documents and their projection in non-traditional spaces, such as clubs, cafes, parks, former factory halls or even chapels. KineDok screenings take place in more than 200 non-traditional locations in five European countries: the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Croatia and Hungary.
KineDok is a project of the Documentary Film Institute. The project is implemented with the financial support of Creative Europe MEDIA, the State Cinematography Fund and the City Hall. Prague.
