Director: Hajao Miyazaki
Even in a peaceful English town, lines and magic can happen. Young and modest Sofia, the best milliner in the salon, has no idea what she did to deserve that one day on the street she is saved from the intrusive soldiers by a beautiful wizard. He takes her under his protection, and the amazed Sofia suddenly loses the ground under her feet, they rise together above the town, fly like birds... But then she is punished in the form of an evil witch. Sofia loses her youth and beauty and must continue to struggle through the world as an old woman. Her only hope is the beautiful young wizard Howl, who roams the region in his castle on stilts. The fairytale story of the girl Sofia and the young wizard Howl tells primarily about human freedom and the power of love.
