When the borders 2020 and then again 2021 were closed, we met at the Göhren goal, a magical place in the Ore Mountains. Lars Helbig wrote the story "How the Göhrener Tor became the historical to the future" for our exhibition The border is only one word - you can find the full story here: https://klub-cz-de.com/de/archiv-de/508/
His story ends with the words: I would be happy to hike from time to time to Göhrener Tor. I often meet hikers, cyclists or skiers who pause on the bench on which we set up our picnic at the time. People laugh and marvel at being in a historical place, open up and tell what they did at the time or what they felt and how they live today. Up here, at 820 m above sea level, in Czech, German or English. With beer, cookies, homemade cakes, coffee, tea, water or rum. At 30 degrees in summer or minus 10 degrees Celsius in winter, real international understanding takes place. Thus, the gate and our friendship became part of the growing together of our peoples, because not only a monument was created at the Göhrener Tor, but a meeting point, an active meeting place for Czechs and Germans.
If you have never been there, it will be high time! On the Czech side you can reach the gate of Černý rybník (approx. 20 minutes removed), on the German side you meet at 1 p.m. at the Waldgasthof Bad Einsiedel.
