About event
A one-day festival where chess is lived from morning to evening - for children, adults, beginners and professionals. In a relaxed atmosphere, outside and in the company of like-minded people, even non-chess players will find their way.
In addition to tournaments and competitions, you can enjoy a discussion and simultaneity with Martin Zvarík, film screenings, ceramic workshops and more!
Main program
10:00-13:00 Fischer/freestyle chess tournament
13:30-14:30 Discussion with Martin Zvarík
14:30-16:30 Quadruple/Simultaneous
16:30-17:00 Competition diagrams
17:00-19:00 Blitz tournament
19:00-21:30 Film conclusion of the festival
Freestyle chess tournament 10:00-13:00 / We will start the festival with a tournament in a non-traditional style of Fischer chess (Chess960), where the initial position of the pieces on the first and eighth rows is random. Bobby Fischer invented this chess variation in the 1990s to eliminate memorization of opening moves and force players to create directly behind the board. We will play 5 rounds, rapid 2×10 min + 3 s.
Discussion with Martin Zvarík 13:30-14:30 / Chess player Martin Zvarík (*1988) is the holder of the prestigious, internationally recognized chess title FIDE Master, the current winner of the extra league and the best player of the 8th board. Martin will tell us about the journey, success, but also the stumbles of a professional chess player.
Doubles/Simultaneous 14:30-16:30 / The afternoon time will belong to a tournament in doubles (bughouse), or to face the challenge in the form of a simultaneous game against FIDE champion Martin Zvaríkova. Doubles is played for 5 rounds, rapid 2×5 min + 3 s.
Diagrams 16:30-17:00 / Block intended for all lovers of chess puzzles and tactical puzzles. We will test your ability to find the best move with a quiz.
Blitz 17:00-19:00 / The end of the game part of the festival will be a blitz chess tournament. 10 rounds are played, 2×3 min + 2 sec.
Accompanying program
Continuous film screenings, hall S1
As a relaxing program, we have prepared a journey through cinematographic history for you. Enjoy the best film images of different genres and from different environments, where the result of a chess game can mean much more. We will publish the time schedule of the cinema gradually.
Ceramic workshops will be held until 16:00
Do you want to take away a unique souvenir and experience from the event? Awaken the artist in you and shape the clay in our ceramic workshops. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, you will be able to test the modeling of chess mascots, figures, medals or other memorabilia.
Workshops will be open to children and adults, the smallest and largest participants of the festival for an additional fee of €1 on the spot.
