About event
Anna Karenina is a dance adaptation of the world-famous novel by Leo Nikolaev Tolstoy. At the center of the story is a woman - an emancipated noblewoman who longs for love and fulfillment, but runs into the contemporary morality of 19th century Russian society. The fact that, as a married woman with a child, she falls in love with the young Count Vronsky suggests a drama.
Anna wants to spend her life with the attractive count, she believes in his devotion. That is why he makes decisions in favor of love, believes in victory - and asks us questions that are relevant even today: Is the freedom of men and women the same? Can a person be happy if he makes others unhappy? Does the fight bring the joy of victory?
Anna Karenina is a story about great love and about a fate that cannot be escaped. Choreographer and director Peter Dedinský gave the stage form to this piece at the State Opera. The production is the first independent title of the ballet company after its change to an independent artistic body.
