David Friesen is an American jazz double bassist, composer and recording artist known for his technique and an innovative approach to the instrument. Friesen was born on May 6, 1942 in Tacoma, Washington, and his career has been going on for several decades. He plays acoustic and electric bass.
Libor Šmoldas is a Czech jazz guitarist. His concert activities include four continents and world metropolis of New York, Washington, Sydney, Beijing, Istambul, Vienna, Berlin, Denver, Milan, Philadelphia, Brisbane, Melbourne or London. With his quartet, he was the first Czech jazz band to tour the US and regularly returns there, as well as on an annual concert tour to Australia and other countries. Among the world clubs where there are legendary pizza Express, Smalls, Iridium, Blue Note, Dear Head Inn or Bennetts Lane. In the Czech Republic he has received over two thousand club concerts, leading festivals in Prague Spring, Prague Proms, Brno Jazz Fest, Bohemia Jazz Fest, Strings of Autumn or Janáček May and cooperation with Czech Jazz leaders, including Ondřej Pivce, Robert Balzar and David Dorůžka. He plays and records with world musicians such as George Mraz, Jeff Ballard, Sam Yahel, Bobby Watson, Adam Nussbaum, Brian Charette and Jay Anderson. Libor won many awards, for example for the best Jazz composition of the year 2014 or an angel for the jazz album of the year with Organic Quartet. He teaches at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague and international workshops in England, Germany, Greece, Italy and Australia. He released nine albums and many others as a teammate under his name.
