SONGS ACROSS BORDERS - Helena Goldt & Trio Scho
Songs that connect - A musical homage to Anna German
Photos: Natalya Fenko & Mark Kagan
Anna German (1936–1982) was one of the most popular singers of the Soviet era. Their songs touched millions of people in the USSR and Poland - and still do today. With her bright, clear voice and her unmistakable expression, she became a musical legend: "Echo ljubvi", "Nadezhda", "Gori, gori, moja svezda", "A on mne nravitsja" or "Belaya Cheremucha" - these titles were part of the sound of an entire generation.
Her life between cultures - an almost finished script - became the 2013 ten-part television series “The Secret of the White Angel”, an international co-production from Poland, Russia and Ukraine. Even after her death, Anna German remains a symbol of understanding through music.
The Russian-German singer Helena Goldt, born in Kazakhstan, brings Anna German's songs to the stage with new warmth and depth. After numerous concerts with the Kaliningrad State Symphony Orchestra, she is now touring Germany with a special program - together with the renowned Berlin ensemble Trio Scho, which combines Eastern European timbres with chanson, swing and world music.
The Trio Scho was founded in 1991 in the Ukrainian city of Poltava. The trio has been working in Berlin since 1994. With a wide variety of song programs and in collaboration with artists such as Karsten Troyke and Alexander Estis, the trio performed at the Klezmer Festival in Ancona, in Brussels, Vienna, Paris and Warsaw, among others.
A musical evening between memory and the present and a musical homage to a great artist - and a journey into the sound world of the Soviet 60s and 70s, full of longing, memories and quiet hope.
