The LinnenBeyondFashion Show #1 | An ode to flax!
LINNEN BEYOND FASHION IS A UNIQUE MULTI-YEAR PROJECT FROM ABROAD OF RHOON WHERE FARMER, FASHION DESIGNER AND PROCESSOR TOGETHER RENEW THE LOCAL FLAX CHAIN WEAVE.
By 2024, area cooperative Buijtenland van Rhoon, the nature-inclusive farmers, Van de Bilt seeds and flax and textile expert Maaike Gottschal from Textielfabrique joined forces in the project Linen Beyond Fashion. This is to reintroduce flax into the textile chain. Over the past year, three designers have worked on their own design with flax from Rhoon. On Friday, October 10, they will present their first designs during the Linnen Beyond Fashion Show at HetNieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam. This program is part of Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week Rotterdam from October 8 to 12, 2025.
This event pays tribute to flax and looks at the future of local and sustainable textiles.

Linen has been part of human culture for centuries. They reveal their designs and explain their design processes and the collaboration with the flax and farmers. Already a sneak peek? Then read on..

Global market player Van der Bilt seeds and flax in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen is also a family business and has played a leading role in flax cultivation for generations. The families are in control.
