About event

We invite those who took seven literary walks through Bratislava with us from spring to autumn, as well as everyone who is interested in how Bratislava was depicted in various literary works, on Saturday, December 7, to the Rómer house for the event Literary walks without a walk.

At the event, actor Marek Lupták will read excerpts from selected works depicting different corners of Bratislava with commentary by literary scholars Radoslav Passia and Viliam Nádasky, who led some of the walks. 🎤

An annotated reading of Bratislava literature will thematically conclude the literary walks we took in 2024:
👣 New memory of the city (Image of Bratislava in contemporary literature)
👣 Maze – rainbow – crypt (Bratislavské podhradie and Most SNP in Slovak poetry) Vilikovský as a medium of memory of the former periphery)
👣 From the square "through the ramps" to the square - from the center to the periphery (Factory district: Railway - Colony - Gas plant. The former outskirts of Bratislava in the prose of Dušan Kraus and Pavel Vilikovský)
👣 Transformation of Bratislava into a socialist city (Habitats and places of everyday life in poetry from the 1950s to the 1980s. century)
👣 Reading the cemetery (Evangelical cemetery near the Goat Gate)
👣 Monuments of literary and cultural personalities in the surroundings of Blumentál (Monumental landscape in the triangle between the Račian myth, the Medical Garden and Freedom Square)

About the LITERARY WALKS IN BRATISLAVA PROJECT:
Literary walks in Bratislava present a new concept combining educational literary activities (lectures) with guided tours of the city, which have become a sought-after popular format in recent years. Thematically and professionally, they reflect the narrative publication of a large collective of authors (R. Passia, V. Barborík et al.) entitled Literárne krazyn Bratislava: obraz mesta po roku 1918 (VEDA, 2023). The project brings a series of thematic walks oriented to the spring and autumn months, dedicated to topics such as interwar Slovak literature, thematization of the Danube, the castle grounds, the Medical Garden, Ondrejské cemetery or socialism.

The creation of the event was supported from public resources by the Art Support Fund.

The event is created in cooperation with the Institute of Slovak Literature of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the Bratislava - Staré Mesto district.
