About our guests:
Writer and translator Veronika Opatřilová never enjoyed school, but she enjoyed languages, which is why she studied Spanish. In the end, however, she was so charmed by Sweden, where she lived, that she became a translator from Swedish. One of the most important themes of her books is the relationship between man and nature, probably the most prominent in her first book, the eco-fiction The Island Lives from 2021. She followed it up with the novel Wait for the Sea (PROSTOR 2022), which became a bestseller and is about to be published in the United States of America. This was followed by the intimate novel Píseň L. (PROSTOR 2024), in which she again dealt with often taboo topics. Veronika Opatřilová lives for moments, loves the sea and the islands, finds inspiration in the forest and peace in the garden among her herbs.
