Literárny podvečer s Adrianou Macháčovou a Marianou Čengel Solčanskou

The accompanying program of the evaluation of the 35th year of the all-Slovak literary contest Petržalské súzvuky Ferk Urbánek 2024 will be a meeting with two authors whose books are published by the Ikar publishing house.

In her work, Adriana Macháčová analyzes complex interpersonal relationships and superficialities such as more and more virtual time lives. It points to the paradoxes and depth of the value scale, the importance of love and understanding not only in the family, but also in friendship. She has a large collection of novels, three of which she wrote together with publicist Róbert Dyda. Adriana Macháčová's books are also published in Czech and German translation.

Mariana Čengel Solčanská is a Slovak film director, screenwriter and writer. She also works on historical novels, which are partly connected to her film work. She published her first novel in 2010 under the title The Legend of the Flying Cyprian. In 2014, she released another, again following the film, Láska na vlasku. In October 2018, her novel General about Milan Rastislav Štefánik was published. In 2019, she published the historical novel Jánošík. Her book Proces s mrótym about Jozef Tis received the Zlaté pero 2021 award, which is awarded annually by literary critics.

In the second half of the 2010s, her work focused on films with political themes. In 2017, her film Abduction was released, which covered the events of the introduction of Michal Kováč Jr. and the murders of Róbert Remiáš. In 2020, she filmed the film Sviňa based on the novel by Arpád Soltész, the theme of which is the murder of a journalist and the clarification of the structures of the connection between the mafia and representatives of state power, which indirectly refers to real events: the murder of Ján Kuciak and Martina Kušnírová.
