María Ana Masera Cerutti:
The Ibero-American Popular Prints of the Theater to Cine Conferences "Diversity/Medialities"
Throughout the twentieth century, popular printed ones - heirs of a tradition of several centuries - experienced important transformations in relation to the development of new cultural industries, such as radio and cinema. This Conference of María Ana Masera Cerutti (National Autonomous University of Mexico / Visitor Researcher IAI) focuses on the analysis of the songbooks published between the 1930s and 1950s, and how these documents reflect an intense transnational circulation in Latin America. This circulation highlights a community of musical repertoires that came from the same radio source, but above all, and in a very marked way, of cinema. In this process, the record companies, the pharmaceutical industries and the film industry itself, which actively promoted the dissemination of these materials. Likewise, aspects related to the representations of women in these new cultural contexts will be addressed, as well as contemporary challenges around their digital preservation.
