About event
We invite you to a unique exhibition that combines darkness, light and water to a unique experience. 2025 at 18:00
📆 Duration: until 30.6.2025
Aqua Vitae program we start with an exhibition of Italian artist Lucie Romualdi, who poetically connects distant waters with water in Trenčín. Introducing her site-specific light score, consisting of rotating screening of slides that are rhythmically emerging from the darkness. She created diagrams - scores made of numbers and geometric formations. The darkness of the vessels and barrels evoking distance and imaginative travel, fish drawings inspired by historical manuscripts, or abstract light features referring to the movement of the rowers of ancient ships. It reflects the values of the tide and outflow in the Guinea port of Kemsar. Sound intervention is an integral part of the work. Lucia Romualdi has transformed historical black and white images, reducing them into minimalist visual signs that, like tids and outflow, disappear and reappear. In this case, the film Panorama des Rives du Nil Lumière brothers from 1897. Her mathematical lyrism and ephemeral visual language transforms space into a mystical emotional experience. In his work, he examines the relationships between time and the place, question the fixed limits of perception and perceives space as a constantly variable field of experience. Time for her is not just a linear quantity, but a dimension of space where the presence overlaps with the past and the future. With her conceptual approach, she reflected the themes of ephemeral and reduction - from strict black and white paintings to place -specific light and sound installations, which she called light scores. She lived and formed in Rome and on the Etruscan coast. Since the 1990s she has begun to cooperate with important Italian composers, including Franco Donatoni, Ivan Fedele, Faust Sebastiani, Antonio Ballista, Bruno Canin, Stefan Cardi and Claudio iacomucci. She died in 2023. Nevertheless, she favored places outside the traditional artistic context - hidden spaces that it made available to the public. She exhibited in Aquarium Neapolitanum, in Medice's greenhouses in Rufina, Palazzo della Cancelleria in Rome, in the Basilica of Sts. Clement, in the Basilica of Four Crown Saints, in the Astronomical Observatory in Rome, Castel Dell’ovo in Naples, in the synagogue in Šamorín and in the Forto Forte Michelangelo in Civitavecia.
