About event
Dear friends of choral music,
I would like to warmly invite you to our next concert on **Saturday, September 27th, 2025** at **7:30 p.m.** in the **[St. Johanniskirche Berlin](https://www.ev-gemeinde-tiergarten.de/st-johanniskirche)****, Alt-Moabit 25, 10559 Berlin** under the title "**Luminous Night**".
The main works of the concert are the pieces "**Dark Night of the Soul**" and "**Luminous Night of the Soul**" by the Norwegian **[Ola Gjeilo](https://olagjeilo.com/)**. The compositions for string quartet, piano and choir are particularly impressive due to their wide emotional range and the portrayal of different characters in their very own sound world.
The pieces by the composer, who was born in 1978, form the framework for further choral works on the theme of the night, whose different moods appear in the program.
**Johannes Brahms** combines the mood of the night with the topos of love in the first of his Four Quartets op. 92. The cycle, created in 1877, also deals with melancholic reflections.
In **[Ēriks Ešenvalds](https://www.eriksesenvalds.com/)**' "Stars" the fascination of the starry sky is expressed.
The “Evening Song” by **Zoltán Kodály** conveys peace and quiet.
**Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy** heralds the beginning of the new day with his composition "Morning Prayer" and gives the night that has passed a feeling of joy, a new beginning and departure.
