The legendary Berlin band Lychee Lassi is celebrating 25th anniversary with a tour in their original formation. They've been doing this for a while now - since 2024 to be exact - and because everyone involved has so much fun, they just won't stop. Means: Lychee Lassi will be coming back to Gretchen in 2026.
Founded in Berlin in 1999, Based, Beat, Berger and DJ illvibe are coming together again to finally present their unique mix of hip-hop beats, turntablism and jam band improvisation live again.
After trips to the big stages of the republic as musicians in the bands of Seeed, Peter Fox and Marteria, as Lychee Lassi you put aside all commercialism and combine hip-hop with jazz, kraut and funk. But that's just the basis into which an incredible amount of inspiration from music history is introduced in order to consistently trim it to individuality with the strangest energy, total power and alienated voices from vinyl.
It's experimental, unique, powerful and modern, but it also has brothers in spirit like DJ Spooky or Kid Koala. Works wonderfully in concert, is ecstatic and is unreservedly fun.
Line-up:
Based - Drums
Beat - Bass
Berger - Guitar
DJ Illvibe - Turntable
