Double up on indie at Nefertiti and Bar Brooklyn this winter when Lydia Luce and Andrea von Kampen come through Sweden!
All we need on a cold winter's day is some indie folk to hold us like a warm hug. Exactly but twice we get because Lydia Luce and Andrea von Kampen are going on a joint tour with two stops in Sweden.
Lydia Luce
From Florida and Fort Lauderdale, singer-songwriter Lydia Luce comes with her indie folk who take us straight into Luce's interior where she explores everything from mortality to body image and the indescribable complexity in human contact.
Music has always been a big part of Lydia Luce. Her mother was a professional conductor and didn't see why she should learn to play the violin, but Luce took it anyway and it was good for us. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, she worked briefly at the world music label Smithsonian Folkways Records, before moving to Nashville and establishing herself as an in-demand studio musician playing viola/violin for legends such as Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson and hip-hop star Eminem. Luce also founded Lockeland Strings - a community arts organization and showcase for local artists (including country star Kacey Musgraves) accompanied by string quartet arrangements. Now she is up to date with her second album "Florida Girl", which is as dreamlike and beautiful as a watercolor. It's emotional and genuine and feels right down to the bone marrow.
Andrea von Kampen
"A fine singer with a guitar playing reminiscent of cult hero Nick Drake", according to the New York Times.
Singer-songwriter Andrea von Kampen is known for her captivating melodies and introspective storytelling. After releasing a handful of EPs, von Kampen released his debut album "Old Country" in 2019 and his sophomore album "That Spell" on independent label Fantasy Records.
Through the years, she has shared the stage with a bunch of incredible artists, e.g. The Tallest Man On Earth, Trampled by Turtles, Watchhouse, Punch Brothers, The Wood Brothers, Bonny Light Horseman, Darlingside, Lief Vollebekk and Dead Horses but is now ready with new music and of course she wants to share it live with us. The album, "Sister Moon", is right on time and focuses on themes such as climate change, the connection with nature and Richard Power's stories.
