"MADEIRA"
A traveling lecture with a screening at the Zvolen castle
Wednesday 23 October 2024│18.00
Madeira - the Portuguese jewel of the Atlantic is rightly called the island of eternal spring or Hawaii of Europe. Its wealth is not only exotic vegetation, black beaches of volcanic origin, but also extremely kind people, excellent island atmosphere, great gastronomy, perfect climate and unique views hidden behind every corner of this mountainous island.
It has volcanic origin, which made its terrain very rugged, with high mountains, deep valleys and dramatic cliffs. Madeira has a unique biodiversity with many endemic plants and animals - for example the Laurisilva, an ancient laurel forest, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Did you know that Madeira is the home of Madeira wine, famous for being part of the celebration of the signing of the American Declaration of Independence in 1776?
It is worth mentioning the tajisto Cabo Girão, one of the highest cliffs in Europe, which offers a breathtaking view from a height of 580 meters above sea level.
Madeira is simply an amazing destination for lovers of nature, culture and adventure!
