About event
Too early is too late!
30. January 1933 – May 10, 1933 | 100 days were enough to suspend essential fundamental rights of the constitution. Harmonization of state actions and dismissals of opponents of the regime. Establishment of the first concentration camp in Dachau. Replacing the unions with the “labour front”. Self-disempowerment of Parliament.
100 days were enough to read writings by Else Lasker-Schuler, Franz Kafka, Stefan Zweig, Joachim Ringelnatz, Johannes R. Becher, Yvan Goll, Walter Mehring, Bertolt Brecht, Carl v. Ossietzky, Nelly Sachs, Erich Kästner, Kurt Schwitters, Hermann Hesse, Heinrich Heine, Kurt Tucholsky, Erich Mühsam and many others were burned at the stake on May 10, 1933 “in an action against the un-German spirit” - but their works live on.
We have taken some of them out of the fire and are performing them - accompanied by music. Because: Too early is too late!
Free admission, donations welcome | Please register.
