About event
A short distance from the busy Karlova náměstí hides a quiet oasis of peace. A mute witness to history, where monks with Slavic, Hispanic and German blood gradually walked. And they were followed by American Cougars, Academics and Brutalism. Visitors will admire unique medieval paintings, a Spanish Baroque Madonna, a fresh view of Prague and much more.
Part of the program is an introduction to the following topics:
- where the funeral chapel of the professors of the University of Prague stood and what it looked like
- what reasons led Charles IV. to the restoration of the Slavic liturgy
- why the French kings swore on the Evangelist from Emmaus during their coronation
- what life in the cloister looked like then and now
- what is the Bible of the poor and who could have seen it
- how is Swedish Uppsala related to this monastery
- what is Beuron art and why did these monks come here in the 19th century the vision of the vertical city of brutalist architect Karl Prager
Practical information
- Meeting: In front of the Benedikt Roezl monument on Karlov náměstí (opposite the Faust House) in the park
- ON THE SPOT, the entrance fee to the church will be collected 90 CZK full/60 CZK reduced (seniors, children)
- Duration: 1.5 hours

- Tickets can only be purchased on the spot if the capacity of the walk has not been filled - it is necessary to contact the organizer to find out the current situation.
