About event

Christening of the new Zbigniew Herbert poetry committee published by the Protimluv publishing house on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the poet's birth. Debate with translator Josef Mlejnk and book editor Jonáš Hájk. Presentation of the new issue of the review Zuvislosti with a thematic block dedicated to Herbert.

German occupation during World War II. The "Poet of Solidarity" was also a perceptive essayist who discovered Europe's cultural heritage for readers.

Zbigniew Herbert's work has been translated into Czech by many excellent translators, including Vlasta Dvořáčková, Miroslav Červenka and Miroslav Holub. Josef Mlejnek, one of the longtime admirers of Herbert's work and the translator of the essays "The Barbarian in the Garden", worked on the new committee on Herbert's poetry for several years.
