Manon Lescaut
Vítězslav Nezval
Lyric drama in the musical garb
In 1945, specifically June 14, Nezval's game Manon Lescaut was opened by the Brno drama theater entitled Free Theater. The choice of this title was based on the huge popularity of Nezval's text between the Czech youth of the Protectorate period and was a demonstration of the joy of freedom, which was reflected in the "dancing Czech word". The creation of the new scene was fed by the hunger of the Czech inhabitants of Brno, who longed to have their young theater. Its history is long and extremely interesting. The free theater was after four seasons of the city and regional theater, soon became the Regional Regional Theater in Brno, since the 1954/1955 season was called Theater Theater Mrštíků and since June 1993 we all know it as the Brno City Theater. In June 2025, our theater will celebrate 80 years since its inception and we will commemorate this anniversary with the introduction of the title that stood at the very beginning. At that time, the director and director wrote about Nezval's text: "There are few Czech theater literature, which can be said to be a poem. Through it, a real passion tied in an amazing form enchanted in the beauty of Czech speech." Moša's modification Manon Lescaut, which was subtitled "lyrical drama-answer", was free from the linear narration of the famous story and thus created a timeless parable. Old knight des Grieux remembers his fateful relationship with sinful saint, which originally a lyrical story gains dramatic dimensions and in the memories of a man at the end of his life come to life long ago, hints and love. A merciless adventure in a new musical version (as it suits for our theater). The author of the music will be a young composer Lukáš Janota. Stanislav Moši's new direction this time comes alive in the bishop's court, so that other generations of viewers can experience the ancient romance of the 18th century, which was brilliantly recorded from the original novel Antoine François Pévost for the Czech environment in 1940 and edited by Vítězslav Nezval. The scene.
Director: Stanislav Moša
Starring Barbora Slaninová, Martin Mihál, Marco Salvadori, Patrik Bořecký, Lenka Janíková, Petr Halberstadt, Jan Valeš, Diana Velčická, Alan Novotný, Stanislav Slovák and others.
