About event
"Maria" by Ireneusz Iredyński
Translation: Christa Vogel
Director and dramaturgy: Andreas Visser
as Maria: Celina Muz
The play experienced its premiere in 1975 in Warsaw and has been in
a German translation by Christa Vogel at Kiepenheuer Verlag. Our staging will be the German premiere and should at the same time rediscover a theater author, who died in 1985 at the age of only 46, but is one of the most powerful and versatile authors of his generation in his short life, but is completely unknown in Germany.
The piece leads us back to the time of Stalinism in Poland. A young man practices betrayal to the values of his fiancee. Maria denounces her lover and he is then banished by the university to a coal trove where he is killed in an accident. The fault throws a shadow on Maria's entire life. All attempts to make up for the errors resulting from youthful naivety are doomed to fail. She wrote down her story and sent her to an actress to give a voice with the request of her story. href = "https://www.acud-theater.de/programm/5624-maria.html"> https://www.acud-theater.de/5624-maria.html
