💬 Ľalia połná is originally Varga's composition for organ and children's choir, which was sung by Pavol Hammel in 1977. And now let's move to the present. Imagine an acoustic piano instead of the sound of organ pipes and a woman's voice instead of a man's voice.
What was it like? Great, very suggestive.
-- Oliver Rehák, for Denník N
An extraordinary line-up of artists met for the first time in this composition in autumn 2020 to develop Varga's songwriting in a special way. Artistically at a high level and at the same time strongly connecting different generations and styles. One of the most important contemporary successors of Marián's work - keyboardist and composer Vladislav Šarišský, talented, authentically unique singer moving between jazz and world music Sisa Fehér, phenomenal and award-winning jazz trumpeter Oskar Török, and finally the leading Slovak cellist Jozef Lupták, Varga's friend and teammate based on the classics, just like Marián, but constantly moving on the edge of genres. These four make up an ensemble bringing a new, extremely attractive form of Marián Varga's songs in a classical-improvisational, intimate form of the contemporary musical language. This summer, the project will finally see its release - the recording was created in February in the Birdland studio and is available on all physical and digital media. After the concerts at the Pohoda and Atmosféra festivals, the ensemble will play concerts in several Slovak cities in the autumn.
Varg's songs in a new guise:
"The same melodies and chords, but different arrangements. In other words - the same music, but at the same time different. No one can understand the original work, and at the same time have the courage and ability to process it in their own way. Keyboardist Vladislav "Slnko" Šarišský, singer Sisa Fehér, cellist Jozef Lupták and trumpeter Oskar Török yes. This two-generation lineup has been playing Marián Varga's songs together for four years. His work in the groups Prúdy and Collegium musicum, also from solo albums. They do it more and more sovereignly and more original. In terms of sound alone, they are more originals than covers. Embarking on notorious songs without guitars and drums without sounding awkward is a big challenge. And only outstanding personalities can bring their own contribution to it. In a way, these musicians symbolically return Varga back to the classics from which he came, while elsewhere they move him to jazz with solos (especially Török's), says music columnist Oliver Rehák about the project. 11. you will see:
