About event
We cordially invite you to the Cestou necesto travel festival in Martina - this time in the new premises of the Sommelier Cinema. This evening we will visit Asia in two travel lectures. In both, we will look at Vietnam and Bali with Nika and Nana - our regulars.
18:00 Katarína "Nana" Naništová and Nikola Kökényová: Vietnam with mom and a month after
What does a traveler buy for his mom on her 50th birthday? A plane ticket, after all. Two-way for mom and one-way for myself... but mom doesn't know about it yet. Our journey began in the former Saigon in the south of Vietnam and the task was to show my mother why we both fell in love with travel. We have two weeks and the goal is to reach the capital in the north of the country. We pass through the historic cities of Hue, Da Nang, Hoi An, the iconic Halong Bay, and along the way we learn about the Vietnam War, the influence of China, Japan and France, rice cultivation and the production of lanterns.
Mom gets on the plane and we continue at a slower pace to discover places that are not even in tourist guides - by foot, by night train to the border with China. Now we get to know the local Hmong and Tai tribes, the taste of steamed bamboo and the sight of grilled dogs. Although Vietnam is becoming more popular every year, you can still find places that are raw. And we'll take you there!
19:30 Katarína "Nana" Naništová and Nikola Kökényová: Bali - "Is it still worth going there?"
"Is it still worth going to Bali?" – we asked each other before our third trip here. And everyone asks us that. The local culture, religion and rituals offered by Mama Bali cannot be found anywhere else in the world. In our lecture, we will not only take you to beautiful places that are worth seeing, but especially to the traditional life of the locals, who still follow traditions and celebrate their gods on average every other day (we calculated).
How did Hinduism get to the small island of the largest Muslim country in the world? How many days last the rituals associated with the celebration of the New Year, which is at a different time every year and never when we are here? And what year did the Balinese celebrate recently? What is hidden behind daily sacrifices and family altars? Why do you grind your teeth before marriage? What if Bali is rightly called the Island of the Gods?
You will look at it with us from 3 points of view - as tourists, students of the Indonesian language (which you can become yourself and we will tell you how) and as digital nomads who will make their temporary office in Bali.
Pre-sale ends one hour before the start of the event. The price in advance is 10 euros for both lectures.
Additional tickets will be available on site for 12 euros.
