About event
Ceremonial launch of Martin Skála's book "The Way of Sunshine". We look forward to seeing you on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 7 p.m. in the hall of the Liberál cafe (Prague 7, Heřmanova 6).
Martin Skály's book On the Path of Sunlight is based on the manuscript Splendor Solis (Sunshine), whose authorship is attributed to Paracelsus' legendary teacher Salomon Trismosinus.
Martin Skála focuses primarily on the pictorial part of the work, based on the manuscript version from 1582, stored in the British Library. It examines the twenty-two images of Splendor Solis, analyzes their symbolism, the relationships between individual details and the interconnectedness of the images of the entire cycle. In the sequence of picture boards, he finds a parallel with the process of individuation, i.e. with the physical, mental and spiritual development of the human individual, as described by C. G. Jung. Martin Skály's book is a unique guide on this journey and, together with the interpretation of Splendor Solis paintings, also offers simple exercises for meditation practice.
The book was published by Trigon publishing house with the support of Mr. Václav Dejčmar and the Czech Literary Fund Foundation. Editing by Bozena Správcová and Zuzana Zadrobílková, graphic editing by Tomáš Nedoma.
The event is part of the PICTURE & BOOK program, which is implemented with the financial support of the Municipal District of Prague 7.
