Detailed description of the main star - Chateau Mouton Rothschild:
Château Mouton Rothschild Pauillac Premier Grand Cru Classé is an iconic wine from the Pauillac appellation in the Médoc region of Bordeaux. This prestigious estate is one of the most famous wineries in the world and was promoted to the first growth (Premier Grand Cru Classé) in 1973, placing it among the absolute top of Bordeaux wines. The history of the winery dates back to the 18th century, but it reached its greatest glory under the leadership of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, who made it famous not only for its exceptional wines, but also for its innovative approach to marketing and art.
Château Mouton Rothschild wines are known for their richness, structure and complexity. The varietal composition is typical of the Médoc, with Cabernet Sauvignon being the main component, which gives the wine structure and longevity. The wine usually also includes a proportion of Merlot, which brings softness and fruity notes, and to a lesser extent Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Typical notes for Mouton Rothschild wines include blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, and spicy nuances that develop over time into rich layers, including notes of leather, tobacco, and licorice.
Each vintage of Château Mouton Rothschild is exceptional and reflects the terroir of this prestigious estate appeal. The wine is made for long aging, and while it is approachable after only a few years, the real peak of its elegance and complexity is reached after decades of aging in the bottle. One of the reasons why this wine is so iconic is also the fact that it is produced with the utmost care, including hand picking the grapes and carefully selecting the best fruit for the resulting cuvée.
Château Mouton Rothschild is also known for its artistic labels. Since 1945, each vintage has been decorated with an original label designed by a famous artist. Among the names that worked for the winery are, for example, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Andy Warhol or Marc Chagall. This unique approach makes each bottle not only a wine but also an artistic gem that attracts collectors and wine lovers from all over the world.
