About event
In collaboration with “Altay” - cultural nomadic lodge in Groningen "Along the Silk Road" program continues its mission to showcase new music from the regions along this historic trade route, with a special performance at the Ruigoord Church.
You are warmly invited to experience a rare and exceptional concert featuring the Masters of Tuvan music, who have journeyed all the way from Southern Siberia to the heart of the Netherlands. Their trip to Amsterdam has not been without challenges, given the unfortunate geopolitical issues and that is the reason for such a short notice announcement—- BUT we are thrilled to confirm their concert on September 4th.
The Masters of Tuvan music are:
Igor Koshkendey - Doshpuluur, Igil, Bayan
Dalai Damdyn - Doshpuluur
Naidan Dongak - Doshpuluur
Choldug Koshkendey - Byzaanchy, Igil, Doshpuluur, Shoor
Tuva is known to the world for its art of throat singing, known as xöömei. Through their singing, Tuvan musicians replicate and engage with the sounds of their environment—chirping birds, flowing streams, whispering winds, and the resonant hum of camels. However, throat singing is just one remarkable aspect of Tuvan musical heritage. The tradition boasts an elegant and intricate repertoire of songs and instruments, rich with melismas and wide-ranging melodies that immerse listeners in a mystical, mythic, and shamanistic world that offers endless enjoyment.
Entrance fee - 17,50$
