Matangi Moments: Maestro Morricone
In 2025, Matangi will continue their series Matangi Moments in theAmstelkerk in Amsterdam. Enjoy an hour of the sublime world that the string quartet offers. Be enchanted by concerts where Matangi explores new paths and creates innovative sound landscapes. This time, Carel Kraayenhof is our guest, with whom Matangi has put together a program to celebrate the master of the film music to honor Ennio Morricone. Matangi, together with Carel, delved into his music archive and arranged a number of gems from Morricone's oeuvre for bandoneon and string quartet. Morricone about Carel:
'His interpretation is perfect and totally involved, intense and rigorous and in my opinion, he makes the instrument work in a non-traditional manner that makes it surprisingly relevant.'
In a magical concert, the Matangis and Carel express the world of Morricone and his sources of inspiration, but also the musical legacy he left behind for other composers.
