Mgr. Helena Durnová, Ph.D. (PDF MU) - Mathematics: plural or uniform number
In the paper we will look at the development of mathematics teaching in Czechoslovakia in the first half of the 20th century. Our guides will be Czech mathematicians Bohumil Bydžovský, Jan Vojtěch, Karel Vorovka and Quido Vetter, our goal will be to illuminate the variable meaning of the word mathematics and bring to today's listener, what they were mathematical sciences.
