About event
The Matthäus Passion is considered the favorite composition in the passion time in the Netherlands and is anchored in our culture. The Bach Choir & Orchestra of the Netherlands is able to convey the symbolism, emotion and comfort to you as a listener like no other.
Johann Sebastian Bach conceived for his Magnus Opus a unique setup: two choirs and two orchestras. The composition tells the chronological suffering story of Christ in which symbolism plays a major role. Bach uses all kinds of musical means to get rich effects. He wrote specific roles for both instruments and soloists. The storyteller: the evangelist, takes you through the story. He is alternated by the choir, on the one hand intimate and then overwhelming. Every soloist has its own emotional dimension such as love, smart, comfort, contemplative.
The musicians of The Bach Orchestra play authentic instruments from Bach's time and The Bach Choir is praised for its dynamic and expressive sound. The (inter) national soloists have a huge dedication that will be audible and visible during the masterful arias. They are able to convey the symbolism, emotion and comfort to you as a listener like no other.
