Prior department store and Hotel Kyiv are one of the most important buildings of post-war Bratislava. Architect Ivan Matušík won the competition for this complex when he was only 30 years old with an extremely bold concept that still attracts attention today. In recent years, the public has begun to appreciate its qualities more, and the building is gradually coming back to life.
The tour will explain its urban origins, we will take a closer look at the unique architectural values from the inside and outside, and maybe even comment on some interventions from recent years.
The tours will take place as part of Urban Market 2025 (Winter Edition), the winter edition of the largest local design sales show in Slovakia.

(today OD Bratislava, Kamenné námestie 1/A, 811 08 Bratislava). In 2014, he initiated the Ikony project, a documentary series about the personalities of Slovak post-war architecture that was successful both for viewers and professionals, broadcast on RTVS at the turn of 2020 and 2021.
