Joe Kučera is a Czech saxophonist and jazz flautist. He was artistic director of the Jazz Meeting Berlin jazz festival from 1997 to 2007 and has been the initiator and artistic director of the Europe Blues Train festival since 2009. He has also been chairman of the Pro arte vivendi association since 2013
In the fall of 1969 he first went to Vienna, where, among other things, played with Sammy Vomáčka. From 1970 he accepted an engagement for the musical Hair, which was touring in Germany, for performances in Frankfurt am Main and West Berlin. He stayed in West Berlin until he moved to England for four years in 1972, where he performed regularly with Jesse Ballard and recorded the album Control with Jackie Leven. There were further musical contacts with Alexis Korner, whom he met in the London folk club Troubadour.
In 1976 he returned to West Berlin with Jesse Ballard's Paradise Island Band and was quickly accepted into the flourishing jazz, blues and folk scene there, where he also became known under the title The Sensational Saxophone Joe.
The musical collaboration with Pete Wyoming Bender followed, which included a whole series of tours throughout the country Germany and Austria, as well as several appearances on television. He was also a co-founder of the music projects Triangel (together with Ron Randolf and Hans Hartmann) and Balance (together with Ralph Billmann).
After the fall of communism and the Velvet Revolution, he toured Czechoslovakia with Marta Kubišová from 1990, with further concerts in Japan, Paris and Berlin.

CARLOS MIERES (Guitar) was born in Montevideo / Uruguay. He has been living and working as a guitarist in Berlin for 35 years.
Until he moved there, he worked as a guitarist in Argentina and from 1975 he was also active in Europe. In Spain he played in various bands and toured with the musical HAIR for a year. In Berlin he soon gained an excellent reputation as a Latin musician and solo guitarist.
Juan Carlos soon worked with Pete Wyoming Bender, as well as with the Czech saxophonist Joe Kucera, as well as with the Latin rock band "IPANEMA", which was very well known in Berlin in the 80s, and the first salsa big band "SALSANCO", the Turkish singer Özay and the German vocalist Jasmin Bonin. At the beginning of the 1980s In the 90s he was an integral member of the group "LATINO DANCE MACHINE". He also played together with the bandoneonist Klaus Gutjahr. In 1999 and 2000 he appeared alongside Helen Schneider at the Bad Hersfeld Festival in the musical EVITA.
He led the well-known Latin band Pa`que, which exclusively presented his own compositions. At the same time, he worked as an accomplished studio musician on several CD productions.
He is currently composing music for his trio Mauer Blues as well as meditation compositions, which he performs with Elke Maes.

ANDREA MARCELLI (1962, Rome) drummer
From 1989 to 1997 he lived in Los Angeles, then in New York for four years.
Marcelli has been in Berlin since 2001, where he takes part in the film “Good Bye Lenin”
and receives several jazz awards. So far he has recorded around 200 of his own
compositions. Two of his compositions are included in the important collections "The European Real Book" and "The Digital
Real Book part 2".
He plays in the USA, Canada, Japan, India, Brazil, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, all over Europe, Africa and many others.
With: Wayne Shorter, Ekkehard Wölk, Don Menza, Bob Mintzer, Mike Stern,
Bob Berg, Eddie Gomez, Allan Holdsworth, John Patitucci, David
Liebman, Markus Stockhausen, Ralph Towner, Eberhard Weber, Frank
Gambale, Hiram Bullock, Harold Land and many others.
As a bandleader, Marcelli releases four albums of his own Compositions:
